Let the "Tithing" begin!
by The Berean inlast night during the service meeting a letter was read indicating that more money was needed by jehovah's witnesses in order to expand the world-wide work .
it was suggested that each publisher take a piece of paper and write down the amount of money they would be willing to give and hand it to the elders.
it seems to be a cleverway to gather "seed money" by the organization while not calling it a "tithe.

Perhaps not ... yet "guilt" amd "obligation" remain the undocumented tools of control, and whatever the "slave" says is interpreted by the faithful as God's orders ... and in their mind the "angels" are watching and recognize their writing!

Last night during the Service Meeting a letter was read indicating that more money was needed by Jehovah's Witnesses in order to expand the world-wide work . It was suggested that each publisher take a piece of paper and write down the amount of money they would be willing to give and hand it to the Elders. It seems to be a cleverway to gather "seed money" by the organization while not calling it a "tithe." After all, each publisher will have named the amount ....... looks like required contributions loom ahead!

The great illusion of Jehovah's Witnesses
by The Berean ini would suggest that:.
the real world we live in is transient and ever-changing.
what works today will fail tomorrow.
-
The Berean
I would suggest that:
The real world we live in is transient and ever-changing. What works today will fail tomorrow. Everything we have we will lose at some point. Logic tells us everything has a beginning and an end. As humans we have less control of events than we wish to admit.
These deductions, I propose, comprise one of the main factors which attract many to become and remain Jehovah's Witnesses.
It is the idea that all things will stay the same once this God is appeased. One will not get sick, die, see the good times end, or watch friends drift into memory. And, should times ever get bad, the faithful believe that this loving spirit will repair or replace all things until an eventual "do over" occurs.
While the doctrines and structure of the organization attract those of closed mind, the gates of "La-La Land" remain wide open for any who believe they are somehow superior to the rest and can avoid suffering cxommon to all. By their belief that they will outlast the majority of mankind, Jehovah's Witnesses are, in actuality, evolutionists.

The definition of "GOD."
by The Berean inmine .... simply put, god is the invisible power which decides when things begin and end, who and what recieve which assets and/or liabilities, and how rewards and penalties are metted out according to a judicial system of which humans have no input, appeal, or even full comprehention.. and yours ....

Should Cable Companies Be Sued?
by Sam Whiskey inthink about it, you pay for cable t.v., but they serve up 55% of the two hour movie in the form of commercials.
so you actually get less tthan an hour of the actual moveie.
so...i'm paying to watch commercials?

The Berean
Sirius radio tries commercial free broadcast but is financially shaky, so it probably is a necessary evil

OnTheWayOut:
You're right, it does appear my volley is a contradiction ... the nature of this shot-gun approach is to to solicit as many points of view as possible until a consensus opinion surfaces. The question is not as to my ambiguous presentation but rather the effects of a "passivism" and "activism" on the world at large.
I personaly, believe that the mindset of most JWs IS about the same as those Germans who tolerated Hitler ... Although ... to compare an illegal physical mass murderer such as Hitler to the activities of the common "bobbleheads" we see in the WBTS today, I believe, is like comparing apples to oranges. I guess I could have asked the board if it was true that "someone who stands for nothing will fall for anything"? Can any organization continue without eager followers with no other plan. My observation is that the JW pursuation does seem to work for those lacking the abilty to think for themselves. Is that healthy? Perhaps not. But it is the reality of our times ...
Another question: lacking some percieved accountability to a Higher Power , no matter how controversial, would our world be worse off and in chaos? Of course there are extremists and exceptions who take advantage of the "silent majority."
Finally, back to Hitler, I wish that people had come forth with an early "et tu, Brute" plan similar to what the US did to Saddam Hussein ... perhaps some disagree ...
